Of the dozen or more feature displays at Central library in downtown Portland, there was no feature for the biblical high holy days from the "day of trumpet blasts" / Rosh haShana to the "day of atonement" / Yom Kippur. Please feature displays for the "festival of harvest ingathering" / Chag haAsif, commonly known in Jewish culture as "Sukkot" or the "feast of booths". Hillsdale library has a feature on "Jewish fiction", but this seems to be used to ignore the Jews primary endowment to human civilization, which is their Jewish covenant and sacred scripture, and history. It seems to be a subtle form of anti-Judaism at work. If you truly care about equity and inclusion, you should include Jewish culture and religion on its own terms, rather than on terms defined by outsiders like display does, or like "Jewish American heritage month" does. tishrei.txt Last modified: 2024/10/22 16:35by rcif
